Start Your New Year with a Bright Smile with Whiter Teeth

A huge smile with bright, white teeth is one of the first things we consider when we think of happiness and beauty. White teeth aren’t just clean teeth; they’re healthy, strong, and ready for the challenges that face you for the day — from lunch to after-work happy hours.

At Expressions in Dentistry in Folsom, California,  Thomas Ludlow, DDS, Lilliana Stojic, DDS, and Elias Khoury, DDS, lead our staff of compassionate professionals who are dedicated to the health and beauty of your smile. Our experienced professionals offer several options that can help you take your smile from dull to dazzling

How did this happen?

It isn’t uncommon for people’s teeth to change as they age, even when entering a different environment with different food. There are, of course, everyday reasons that your teeth get dull or begin to yellow, from food to medicine, to poor dental hygiene.

Part of what keeps your teeth white and healthy is keeping them clean — daily and professionally. Our team of providers at Expressions in Dentistry recommend two annual cleanings per year and twice-daily brushing and flossing to keep your room-brightening results.

Your daily oral health routine is essential in the fight against dull teeth. Part of the culprit for your yellow teeth could be improper brushing and flossing. When done properly, your toothbrush, along with floss, should remove almost all of the leftover food, drink, and debris from your mouth, preventing these compounds from staining your teeth.

Where your diet is concerned, many people who love red wines and tomato-based dishes often find their teeth slowly turning a shade that’s less bright than they once were. Coffee and tea can both be hard on teeth, staining them and weakening tooth enamel. As is the case with all people’s oral and overall health, tobacco use can hurt your health, as well as discolor your teeth.

Tobacco is particularly dangerous to your oral health. Not only can it negatively affect the color and appearance of your smile, it can create or exacerbate oral health issues. Smoking cigarettes or cigars has been linked to a number of oral cancers and increased risk of tooth decay.

Equally important is paying attention not only to how your teeth look, but also how they feel and the way that your breath smells. Toothaches are common and can be benign, but they may also indicate an oral health issue that’s more serious than you realize. If you have an aching tooth, and your teeth are discolored, you may need our emergency dentistry services.

Could I get a whiter smile?

We offer several options to help you whiten your teeth, including the The Kӧr System, a state-of-the-art in-office treatment. Before we recommend any treatment for you, though, your provider at Expressions in Dentistry has a consultation with you and gives you a full dental examination.

Biannual dental cleaning

The most important thing you can do for your teeth is keep them clean and healthy. Professional dental cleanings include the removal of harmful tartar buildup on your teeth, also called plaque. Left untreated to continue building, plaque can cause gum disease, which darkens gums and causes tooth and jaw pain.

People living with certain chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, should be especially careful with their oral health. LIkewise, your oral health can be indicative of your overall health, making your smile even more important.

Kӧr Whitening System

Even though regular at-home whitening treatments can get all over your mouth, the Kӧr Whitening Treatment is teeth whitening that’s done in-office for a highly effective whitening experience. Instead of open reservoirs to hold the whitening solution, the Kӧr system submerges your teeth in the active ingredient solution without leaking into your mouth.

With signature saliva-blocking trays that form a seal to whiten your teeth, the Kӧr whitening system is our preferred method of teeth whitening. Some dentists have called Kӧr whitening the best whitening system in the world, but it’s important to remember that different people may have different results.
